At Toronto Zoo they have a lot of snow....no!! They have 2 Sumartran Tigers and 2 Siberian Tigers, this picture shows one of the Sumartrans playing in the snow they both were, right down to playing with huge rolled snowballs, they were loving it!! Remember that in the wild they would never, ever see snow!!
Just down the path is the enclosure for the Siberian Tigers, that are born in to the snow and rarely see anything but snow, or cold desert in their entire life in the wild. The pair of them huddled together keeping warm as far away from the actual snow as possible with looks of complete distaste on their faces!!
There are so few Sumartran Tigers left in the wild that it is great news to see zoo's like Chester, my local zoo and without doubt one of the best in the world, being successful in breeding. "Little Stripey" was born on 18th June and I didn't even know about him, so my friend went on to the Chester Zoo site here there were pics of him to show me.
It was horrible, no really.... He had died yesterday morning. OMG tribute page on Facebook, the lot. How sad after all the hard work and jubilation at his birth to lose him at 11 days old.
My friend was glad she didn't find out on her own, there would have been floods of tears and I can always blame the op I had on my eye for tears!!
My main concern however was that he had the nerve to die before I could photograph him!! (Big LOL!!) Yes I was smacked for saying that yesterday too!!
RIP LITTLE STRIPEY
